How is permanent makeup applied?
A certified, insured permanent makeup artist will apply your permanent cosmetics in a procedure called micro pigmentation insertion. This procedure is similar to doing a tattoo. It is important to ask many questions when interviewing your makeup artist such as:
- How many years have you been practicing permanent makeup?

- Can I see your port folio of before and after permanent makeup pictures?

- Where were you trained in permanent makeup and can I see your license?

- Do you have malpractice insurance?

- Can I call a past client of yours who had permanent makeup?

- Will the procedure be done in a hair salon or medical setting?
Permanent Makeup Recovery Time:
Eyebrows: You usually can return to your normal routine immediately after the permanent makeup procedure but if you have a special event to attend such as a wedding or special date it is recommended that you give yourself two to three weeks of healing time. Permanent makeup color on your eyebrows can take up to 30 days for the full color to surface.
Eyes: The delicate tissues around the eyes usually take up to two days for the swelling to dissipate.
Lips: You can usually expect three to five days of swelling and up to 30 days for the full color in the lips to surface.

Permanent Makeup Precautions:
As with any minimally invasive procedure there can be potential complications. The usual side effects after receiving permanent makeup are soreness and swelling around the procedure site. If you experience any signs and symptoms of infection such as; fever, unusual drainage at the procedure site, unusual odor you must seek medical advice. There is also some risk of allergic reactions when certain permanent makeup pigments are used, so ask your permanent makeup technician about their products and safety protocols.
